Paramount+ and Disney+ have added various new content to their platforms this week, shifting the focus away from horror and giving more behind-the-scenes looks at their content. Paramount+ has brought back a few classics, including Forrest Gump, Titanic, Clueless and Footloose. In addition, Disney+ has added new episodes to its Marvel docu-series projects, including Marvel Studios’ ASSEMBLED and Marvel Studios: Legends.
Forrest Gump Joined Paramount+ on Nov. 1
Forrest Gump is an American classic comedy-drama film directed by Robert Zemeckis. The film won six Academy Awards, and Tom Hanks starred as the protagonist. The novel Forrest Gump inspired the film, which follows the character throughout his life, providing audiences with the guidance he learned throughout his experiences. Forrest is incredibly kind-hearted, which helps him through a multitude of situations. The film is a classic and could serve as a movie to watch with the family this weekend.
Paramount+ Added Two Transformers Films on Nov. 1
In preparation for Transformers: EarthSpark‘s release on Nov. 11, 2022, the franchise added its two previous films to Paramount+ this month. Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen was the sequel to the first live-action film of the franchise. Two years later, Michael Bay directed a third film titled Transformers: Dark of the Moon. Both films deliver a science fiction action experience for fans of the alien robot series. Revenge of the Fallen starred Shia Lebouf, Josh Duhamel and Megan Fox. Dark of the Moon expanded the cast to bring the action sequences to the next level.
Titanic Joined Paramount+ on Nov. 1
Titanic is an epic romance and disaster film created by James Cameron that rocked the world with its initial release. The movie was the highest-grossing film of all time from 1994 until 2009 when Cameron’s other film Avatar took the title. The premise follows Jack (Leonardo DiCaprio), an orphan with artistic talent who won tickets to Titanic in a poker game, and Rose (Kate Winslet), a high-class young woman forced into an engagement with a snobby rich man. They meet and form a romantic attachment to one another before the tragic event rattles their worlds.
Clueless Was Added to Paramount+ on Nov. 1
Clueless is an iconic coming-of-age teen comedy that stars Alicia Silverstone, Stacey Dash, Brittany Murphy and Paul Rudd. The premise is loosely based on Jane Austen’s Emma set in Beverly Hills. Cher (Silverstone) is a rich girl who befriends a new student (Murphy) and decides to give her a makeover. Rudd stars as her ex-stepbrother and the only logical and supportive influence in her life, helping her recognize the immature ways she approaches the world. The film is funny, with many quotable and iconic moments. Clueless could be a fun movie to watch with the girls this weekend.
Footloose is a musical drama about a teenager moving to a small town where dancing is banned. Kevin Bacon stars as Ren McCormack, the cool new student with a talent for dancing. A local minister attempts to protect his daughter from Ren’s ways, but he and the town eventually realize that dancing is one of the many joys of life. The most memorable scene worth revisiting is when Bacon travels to a warehouse to dance dramatically alone. The soundtrack was unforgettable and a strong representation of the 1980s.
The Making of She-Hulk: Attorney at Law Was Released on Disney+ on Nov. 3
Marvel Studios ASSEMBLED: The Making of She-Hulk: Attorney at Law features behind-the-scenes content on the production of the superhero comedy series. Tatiana Maslany, Mark Ruffalo, Tim Roth and Benedict Wong reveal how they shaped the series into what it eventually became. The documentary special also includes important interviews from the essential crew that made the entire process possible, including the show’s head writer, Jessica Gao.
Director by Night Was Added to Disney+ on Nov. 4
Director by Night is a behind-the-scenes look at how Marvel Studios created Werewolf by Night. The original special’s creation allowed Marvel Studios to explore horror as a viable genre for the production company. As a result, the documentary gives depth to the story of a secret cabal of monster hunters pitted against one another in a deadly competition. Werewolf by Night was inspired by 1930s and 40s-style horror films.
Marvel Studios: Legends Released on Disney+ on Nov. 4
Marvel Studios: Legends is a docu-series that explains different Marvel Comics characters that appear in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The series just added three new episodes, providing insight into the characters from Black Panther. These biographies include King T’Challa, Princess Shuri and The Dora Milaje. For those wanting to learn more about Marvel characters and how they fit into the MCU, this series could serve as an educational experience.
Licorice Pizza Joined Paramount+ on Nov. 3
The 2021 comedy-drama film, Licorice Pizza, stars Alana Haim and Cooper Hoffman in their film debuts as a young couple falling in love. Sean Penn, Tom Waits, Bradley Cooper and Benny Safdie also have roles in the film, supporting the two new actors in their first endeavor. Licorice Pizza has a 91 percent on Rotten Tomatoes, receiving praise for its star-making performances.
