Facts are facts: “Black Adam” isn’t going to clear $400 million worldwide at the box office, and after this past weekend’s haul, “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” is nearly at $550 million. IGN recently (factually) stated that the Marvel sequel has already outgrossed Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s recent DC debut. But, responding on Twitter, Johnson took issue with the outlet’s choice to frame it as they did:
“What a neutral post. I love competing, but @IGN you guys are in the biz with us there’s no competition with the established global brand of Black Panther compared to Black Adam & JSA who a year ago no one even heard of. No need to knock us, we’re new babies and have to grow.”
So yeah, maybe not a great look. I can understand what Johnson is trying to say here, in that Black Adam and the Justice Society were relatively unknown entities, but still — no need to go after a news outlet for laying things out. Even if he attempted to do so respectfully.
