Pokemon Scarlet and Violet will offer Pokemon trainers a brand-new experience in the Paldea region later this year, but the games will retain one key element: version-exclusive Pokemon.
Starting with Pokemon Red and Blue back in the late 1990s, each new generation has been split into two separate versions, each one including Pokemon that can only be found when that version of the game is loaded up. Pokemon Scarlet and Violet are no different, and we have begun to learn some of the Pokemon species that will only be found in either Scarlet or Violet.
A dozen Pokemon currently make up the list of version exclusives for this new generation, evenly split with six for Scarlet and six for Violet. Of the 12 exclusive Pokemon announced so far, four of them are new to the Paldea region–including the legendaries Koraidon and Miraidon–and those new species are evenly split two apiece between Scarlet and Violet.
We expect the number of version-exclusive Pokemon to rise as the game’s launch date approaches, and we will keep this gallery updated with every new Pokemon named an exclusive from now until launch. Pokemon Scarlet and Violet will release on November 18 exclusively on Nintendo Switch. Be sure to also check out our list of every Pokemon in Scarlet and Violet.
