The 2022 International Black Film Festival will be held in the heart of Nashville. The festival will feature numerous screenings, panels, workshops and other events. This year’s festival is scheduled for September 29th thru October 2nd. Their website, www.ibffevents.com will provide updated information on official selections and event announcements, special guests and industry executive appearances, filmmaker news, trailers, film posters, screening times, locations for events, etc.

Creative freedom is the cornerstone of every great work. Imagination, passion, impulse, study, people and places merge together and evolve into this special world. In this world, artists of all genres create, thrive, struggle and celebrate together. At IBFF, they call it “The Creativerse” (pronounced create-ti-verse). This year’s festival theme is The Creativerse: your universe without limitation.

Competition Films include these two Narrative Features — Free Indeed / Directed by Caleb Suggs and Remember Me: The Mahalia Jackson Story starring Ledisi / Directed By Denise Dowse. There are also 20 Narrative Shorts and 7 Long Documentaries, along with these three Short Documentaries — Becoming Black Lawyers, The Invitation, and Digging For Life.

The International Black Film Festival (IBFF), based in Nashville, TN, opened its doors in the fall of 2006, as a 501 (c) 3 nonprofit organization. A pioneer in the film festival arena, IBFF is the only African-American established and inspired film festival in the state of Tennessee. IBFF’s mission is to “Encourage culturally accurate depictions of all people in film with special emphasis on providing a forum of access for underserved and unheard voices as well as to showcase the artistically rich creativity and diversity found around the globe.”
