Good morning Man Utd fans!
Cristiano Ronaldo is being offered an escape route from Manchester United by David Beckham’s Inter Miami, report the Daily Star.
The MLS outfit are willing to pay the Portuguese ace a whopping £30million annually to lure him to the United States next year.
Miami’s top foreigner Gonzalo Higuain announced last week he is calling time on his glittering career.
The Argentinian’s retirement at the end of the current MLS campaign will automatically free up space for the possible arrival of Ronaldo, who is a regular visitor to the Florida area.
The one condition to that mega switch is that Miami, coached by Phil Neville, bag Ronaldo, 37, on a free transfer.
Meanwhile, Wayne Rooney has blasted his former Manchester United team-mate Cristiano Ronaldo by saying he is “not the player he was”.
The now boss at MLS side DC United, told the Portugal superstar, 37, to be patient while waiting for his opportunity under Erik ten Hag.
Rooney said: “The manager’s obviously gone a different way in terms of how they’re playing and been successful.
“Cristiano… him and Lionel Messi are two of the greatest players to ever play the game, but ultimately time catches up with us all.
“He’s obviously not the player he was when he was 22 or 23, for instance. It’s a tough one for him.
“Knowing him, it’ll be very difficult for him to sit on the bench. I’m sure if he stays patient, his chance will come and, again, it’s then obviously him taking those chances and trying to force his way back in.”
In transfer news, United have sent scouts to watch Sassuolo midfielder Davide Frattesi – but face competition if they want to land him.
Other sides throughout Europe are also interested in the 23-year-old, who has caught attention with a string of impressive performances in the middle of the park.
