The Micheaux Film Film Festival Unveiled 2022 winners, with star-studded guests in attendance.
Wrapping on Sunday with a primetime ceremony, the festival honored Bron Studios Founder, Brenda Gilbert with the Oscar Micheaux Trailblazer of Excellence Award and renowned director and cinematographer Ernest Dickerson with the Michael Ajakwe Pioneer of Influence Award.
The highly anticipated, star-studded hybrid festival took place in Los Angeles at the Regal Cinemas L.A. Live in Downtown Los Angeles. The week long event featured exclusive screenings and activations including a special clips and Conversation with Sony pictures Entertainment of The Woman King featuring acclaimed director Gina Prince-Bythewood and President of TriStar Pictures, Nicole Brown; a one-on-one, career-spotlight conversation with Sons of Anarchy and and Rebel Moon Actor, Charlie Hunnam; a dialogue hosted by The Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences; an official Oprah Winfrey Network in-depth discussion on the success of the Love & Marriage with creator and Executive Producer, Carlos King; and more.

Jam-packed with Hollywood’s most elite entertainers, filmmakers, directors and executive producers, the event featured several attendees including; Dewanda Wise (Jurassic World: Dominion); Mindy Sterling (Austin Powers); Sharon Lawerence (CWs Dynasty); Comedian J.B. Smoove; Tosin Morohunfola (Starz Run The World); Ser’Darius Blain (Jumanji 2); Director Gina Prince-Bythewood; Comedian Affion Croffin; Rapper Lil Fizz; T; and more. The event unveiled winners in more than 40 categories honoring the accomplishments of people of color this past year across the fields of film, shorts, digital series, music, and social influence.

Other elements of the week allowed attendees the opportunity to gain access to new content and exclusive insight, while establishing tangible and equitable connections. With Sponsor Panavision providing over 100K in grant funds to underserved and underrepresented filmmakers.
